We left Ottawa on December 28th. We stayed at one of Matthew's father's cousin's place in New York till 30th. We flew out of Newark airport in New Jersey. After waiting in line for 5 hours, we finally got our flight to India. The airport had been closed for 3 days and had to cancel many flights because of a big snow storm. Therefore, we didn't know if we would be able to even make our flight that day or not. We waited in hope and it paid off. We were the second to last passengers to have seats on that flight! Thank God!!
So we started our journey and a trip to remember:) When we arrived in Bombay 15 hours later (yes, a direct flight) which was nice, since it's more difficult to travel with a child, we waited 4 hours for our baggage with no avail. It didn't make the same flight with us:) So we waited in line to get some compensation. We got a bit but not enough to buy clothes for the 3 of us.
Then we waited in the airport for another 6 hours. Our flight was suppose to leave at 5am but then at 3am we discovered the flight was changed to 7am so we waited a LONG time in the airport!
We were very thankful to finally be "home" on January 1, 2011! Happy New Year to all!
